Window wins top honors for resourcefulness, overall excellence

Window magazine recently won two top awards in the 2021 Best of CASE VIII competition, bringing home Gold Awards for overall excellence and as well as resourcefulness.

This was the second year in a row Window received the Gold Award for Alumni/General Interest Magazines Published Twice a Year.

Window is produced by Western’s Office of University Communications.

Window also won the top award in Magazines on a Shoestring, a category for magazines produced with limited staff and resources. “The Great Goatlift,” a magazine story by John Thompson, won a Silver Award, and so did a photograph by Rhys Logan, ’11, “Mongolian Eagle Hunter.”

Western received a total of eight awards in this year’s competition, including a Grand Gold Award for the Fall Anthem Video, and an additional Gold Award recognizing the New Student Orientation website. Silver Awards went to Western’s digital research magazine, GAIA, and to “Get Your Hands Wet,” a student recruitment video.

The annual awards from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education recognize excellence in communications, marketing, advancement and alumni engagement at colleges, universities and independent schools. Region VIII includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and western Canada.
