Bruce Harlow, who died March 3, 2021, at age 88, was devoted to marine science education in Kitsap County. As president of the non-profit Marine Science Foundation in Poulsbo, he was instrumental in the establishment of Poulsbo’s Marine Science Center, which became Western’s SEA Discovery Center in 2016. His visionary work laid the foundation for strengthened partnerships with the city of Poulsbo, local school districts, and the ongoing provision of this valuable community-based educational resource. The SEA Discovery Center, closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, is scheduled for reopening in spring 2022.
