Window magazine wins regional honors

Window’s print edition was honored among general-interest university magazines.

The Council for the Advancement and Support of Education recently honored Window magazine in its 2024 Best of District VIII awards, which showcases the best work in university communications, marketing and advancement in the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada.

Window’s print edition was honored among general-interest university magazines.

Two Window magazine stories were also honored with Best of District VIII awards:

  • She was beautiful, loyal and tough,” by Assistant Director of University Communications John Thompson tells 2023 alum Amirah Casey’s story of determination, resilience, and her love for her mother.
  • Global Hitchhiker,” by Assistant Director of Advancement Marketing and Communications Frances Badgett, profiles 1962 alum Hardev Singh and his creative journey from New Delhi to Seattle in 1960.

In addition, the winter 2023 edition Window magazine, “The Mighty Women of Western: 50 Years of Title IX,” was part of the university’s year-long celebration of the anniversary of Title IX, which won a Best of District VIII award in the category of Communications Initiatives.

WWU received two more Best of District VIII awards. Taking the Leap, an admissions digital campaign, was honored in online advertising, and Western Wednesday: First Night Out was honored among special in-person events. First Night Out also received an international Circle of Excellence award from CASE earlier this year.
