Acclaimed opera singer remembered for her opulent voice

Acclaimed opera singer Erin Wall, ’98, B.Mus., performance, died Oct. 8, 2020, in Ontario, Canada, of metastatic breast cancer. She performed around the world, particularly with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and possessed a “silvery soprano voice that grew more opulent as it evolved,” according to her obituary in the New York Times.

Two favorite performances stand out for Patrick Roulet, chair of Western’s Music Department: “Richard Strauss: Four Last Songs” with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra with Sir Andrew Davis conducting, and Symphony No. 8 by Gustav Mahler with the San Francisco Symphony with Michael Tilson Thomas conducting.
